It's your opportunity to give back and do your bit for North America's native plants. You can work with like-minded people and help shape the future of NANPS. The NANPS Garden / Restoration Award winners: Loretto Maryholme Spiritual & Retreat Centre, Roches Point - Sister Mary Mallany (Grounds and Volunteering)

Their facility involves honouring the land and caring for sacred space by way of conscious environmental practices and initiatives along with a wise use of resources. The retreat has several gardens including a wildflower garden.

Project Pawpaw, The Naturalized Habitat Network of Essex County & Windsor - Dan Bissonnette (Program Coordinator)

"Way down yonder in the pawpaw patch." How many of you remember that childhood ditty? There are many versions of who was in the patch. It may have been dear little Nellie or Susie or Jimmy or Danny. Well, now we know there really is a Danny and we know where to find him. Come hear him speak of the reintroduction of seedlings into local gardens and education through training for growers and consumers. Rumour has it that Dan will have his books for sale: The Native Seed Identification and Cultivation Guide ($25) and hopefully, The Pawpaw Grower's Manual for Ontario ($10), so you don't have to go way down yonder to get it.

The 2012 Paul McGaw Memorial Conservation Awards winners: Trail Blazers Sharon Keogh & David Acomba jazz up the NANPS AGM!

David Acomba is Founder (2001) and past Executive Director of the All-Canadian Jazz Festival Port Hope. In 2006, he and his wife, Sharon Keogh, began working on the establishment of a Catharine Parr Traill Land Trust. Their efforts are concerned with land restoration of the Traills' Mount Ararat homestead outside Gore's Landing, Ontario and the promotion of Mrs. Traill's important early Canadian botanical work.

The River runs through it... even in New York City! The transformation of the Bronx River from open sewer to a green gem in the midst of a highly urban landscape.

The Bronx River Alliance serves as a coordinated voice for the river and its 23 mile Greenway corridor. It works in harmonious partnership to protect, improve and restore the Bronx River corridor so that it can be a healthy ecological, recreational, educational and economic resource for the communities through which the river flows. The Alliance works in close partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and with over one hundred other partners to achieve these goals through a multi-faceted approach - Ecology Team, Greenway Team, Education Team, Outreach Program, and Recreation Program.
