Project Chirp Spring Songbird Garden Tour

| Christine will inspire and guide you with tips to entice birds to visit your backyard. Topics covered: introduction to drought tolerant native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses, contemporary planting styles, planted green roof for songbirds and pollinators, songbird ponds, shopping smart for songbird conservation. $10 per person includes excellent Canadian Wildlife Federation resource materials. Advance payment is required. |

| Acorus Talk in Walsingham: Beginners Plant Identification with Paul Morris - 1 to 4 p.m. |
| Distinguish between "weeds" and wildflowers and then devour them at their September workshop on wild edibles. |
| Charlie Clifford Memorial Park - Thornhill - Sunday June 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. |
| While many of our members have adopted native plants over the years, one member who happens to reside on The Board, recently adopted an entire park with native plants. Now that is ambitious! Greg Hagan has recently adopted Charlie Clifford Memorial Park in Thornhill, a beautiful treed natural area with trilliums, bloodroot and ostrich ferns. This is a great site for future housing of woodland native plant refugees but for the presence of the highly pervasive garlic mustard. If you have a hunger to partake in and witness the demise of invasive non-native species, we need your assistance to help pull garlic mustard plants before they go to seed and further infest the park. If you have a hunger for exotic salad, it's BYOB (bring your own bag). |

| The LEAF-inspired, annual celebration runs in its 5th incarnation featuring a walking tour, tree planting, native plant sale, fresh organic food, organic garden seminar, educational displays from environmental groups, kids' activities, etc. NANPS has a table of plant delicacies - leftovers from our annual plant sale. |

| Tour of Pomona Mills Park & Ukrainian Church Dinner - Thornhill
- Thursday, June 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m. |
| Near Charlie Clifford Memorial Park, but north of John St is Pomona Mills Park. The Pomona Mills Park Conservationists have been actively protecting and restoring Pomona Mills Park for the past 10 years. Meet the members of this group at 6:00 p.m. (park at the end of Church Street), take a tour of the park (you may want to bring bug repellent), and then enjoy an authentic Ukrainian Church Dinner at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge for the tour; however, a donation to the Conservationists would be welcomed. You would pay for your dinner directly at the church. Please contact Karen Boniface directly at kboniface@markham.ca by Monday, June 22 if you plan to attend. We need to alert the church ladies and conservationists of the impending horde of hungry Nanpsians ready to devour every pyrogy on site. Leftovers from the NANPS annual plant sale might be available. |
