"The Importance of Bees"
by Dr. Laurence Packer

There are 20,000 species of bees in the world and their biology is very diverse. Bees are responsible for approximately 25% of our food, so understanding them is vital. Dr. Packer will dispel many generalizations about bees and explain their importance for monitoring the environment.

Dr. Packer is Professor of Biology and Environmental Studies at York University, researches bee systematics and taxonomy, conservation genetics, sociobiology, and biodiversity.

Attendees will receive a free colourful handout on "Gardening for Pollinators" courtesy of Canadian Wildlife Federation (while supplies last).
