Native Seed Collection Workshop

Please join us for an instructive 3 hour workshop covering collection ethics, techniques, timing, safety, seed storage, and life cycles & seed collection walk. Participants will have the option of completing a mail-in test to obtain a Certificate jointly administered by the Sponsoring organizations. Space is limited.

LEAF - Quick & Easy Tree I.D.
Sunday October 3, 1 to 3 p.m.
U of T (SW corner of Willcocks & Huron St.)
Learn the tricks of the trade with Chris Gooderham, Urban Forest Ecologist. This workshop will give you an insider's view into the best techniques for identifying the trees in your neighbourhood. Perfect for those who would like to build on their own urban forest knowledge-beginners and intermediates alike.

Walk and Talk about Using Native Plants with Liz Hood
Wednesday, October 6, 10 a.m. to noon
Toronto Botanical Garden
Join the TBG's Director of Education on an easy walk through the TBG gardens to learn about the benefits and challenges of working with the wild cousins of nursery cultivars. You'll learn about ideal plants for sun and shade, where to find sources for plants, and how to intermix native plants in your garden. This is a great course for backyard birders, wildlife gardeners, naturalists and plant enthusiasts. Come dressed for the weather as this course will be held outdoors. Public $30.09; members $23.01

Dr. Eckenwalder is a conifer specialist whose enthusiasms include the evolution and history of conifers and everything gardeners need to know about these all-season plants.
